Challenges are one of the major phases of a person’s life. Not only person but it is a phase of everything that has a potential or an urge to grow, to grow through the hardships of time, to grow through the hardships of space, to grow through the hardships of competition and the list will go on. Challenges are important in pushing the idea forward solving different complexities. Such are challenges for HR in a startup. A startup in its initial crucial stages where the further road for it is made or it will come to an end depends majorly on the HR’s of startups because they are the cements holding the blocks of the organisation. An HR has to face the major challenges in a startup because it is the one that is responsible for the talent acquisition and retention of those talents in the startups so that the skills of the talents can be used completely in the development process of the company facing and resolving all the startup challenges.
Let’s discuss about some of the challenges a HR has to deal with in these scenarios of startups:
1) Lack of attention
Due to the nature of startup, the management focus more on developing the solutions and services in the company or busy in building the business. There are so many priorities for management that they forgot the importance of human resources. Their functions are seen as of less importance but they play a major role for the startups. More focus should be given on the company HR services and plans.
2) Recruitment & Retention
Skillset is the major reason for a company’s growth. What type of people they have in their workforce directly affect the solutions to the challenges of startups. A stronger workforce means a stronger foundation for the future. With recruiting talents the job of HR’s are of retention of their employees also so that the stronger workforce can continue In the growth with consistency
3) Onboarding & Training
Once the HR have selected the required skillset for their company. Their next challenge is the onboarding of employees in a hassle-free process that the employee gets to have a clear knowledge about the dream and values of the company. After onboarding comes the training of employees where the HR need to introduce friendly training programs helping the employees to prepare themselves for the company
4) Feedback System
Startups are so busy in hiring employees building business solutions that many companies don’t have a formal feedback system which can provide timely inputs on the employees and their efficiency which can help HR’s to see when to upgrade the workforce or what are the areas of development that can be done so as to boost the growth of the company.
5) Culture building in startups
The entrepreneurs are so busy developing the company that they just focus on hiring talents. They do not see the importance of building a work culture in the company. They expect the culture to be developed on its own. This leaves the HR with a major challenges for creating a work culture where every employee is eager to work in and feel safe plus comfortable to work keeping in mind their future and growth.
There are many more challenges that human resources face in startups but according to us we should try to give human resources a chance to showcase their talent for the growth of the company and trusting them to bring the change a company needs from time to time.
